I worked with the wonderfully talented Baltimore clothing designer, Bishme Cromartie of Ying Edge Designs, Sierra Connie of Styles by Sierra (MUA/Hair) and the beautiful Barbara from Fashion Ikons and all I can say is WOW!
This team is lethal! No contest!

Fun, fun and more fun!
That's what I encountered today while shooting with fellow photographer, Tya, of
Eyeni Photography - and we had a BLAST!
I love working with Tya because we've known each other since...birth it seems...and we complement each other so well. We don't have to speak - there's a hidden speech that happens when we occupy the same space.
I was asked by Ms. Eyeni herself to second shoot for this wonderfully, wonderful wedding. I don't think I've ever seen a bride smile soooo much! Or laugh that much, for that matter. Kim was beautiful, calm, collected and ready to wed her incredible Orin (O.J., for short).
Congratulations, Kim + O.J.

As an artist myself, I know how difficult it can be to get something good for something affordable. Lord knows that most of my experiences have been with people that have given me a break, given me something for almost nothing. So, I am returning the favor in kind.
The Starving Artists Syndicate is my new project that will allow artists (musical, painters, crafters, etc.) the opportunity to have quality pictures taken for a nominal fee.
Starving Artists does not mean what you think it does. This collection is meant to highlight those that are hungry for their art - that live and breathe their passion.
Unlike discounts or specials, this project is a more personal, documentary style endeavor as opposed to (but not instead of) the commercial photography that I traditionally offer. This a project entirely captured on film.
The deadline for this project is April 15th, meaning that you can schedule sessions from today until April 15th. Anyone interested in participating needs to contact me directly via email at
starvingartists@dariajohnson.com. These sessions will be held throughout Baltimore and so some travel will be required if you live outside of downtown Baltimore.
Sessions are $99 and include up to two people. If there are additional members of your group, there will be a small fee of $5 for each additional person.Labels: document, personal, starving artists syndicate

I love my job!'
Why' do you ask?
Because I get to meet some of the most honest, heart-warming people there are out there. I am invited into their homes where I am most always treated like family and I love it! Not for freeloading or anything like that but because then you get to see the heart of the family without airs or stiffness and it's wonderful!
That being said, I photographed the most awesome Greene family: Pamela, Chance, Sidney and Naila (I hope I spelled that correctly!).
They were great - lovable sense of humor and fun, fun, fun!

* and Grandma makes five!

This is an oldie but goodie.
I photographed this a good while ago - and by good while, I mean April, this year. I loved the images and I wanted to use them in my portfolio, but if I add them all, it will definitely be overkill.
So, I'm saving my faves for the portfolio, but will add a few here.
The purpose of these images was to use these images for an online magazine: the interview and later, the performance. I know that all of these images are black and white, but hey - my eyes like what they like.

*I love this picture. There's another one that I love but it'll be in my portfolio!
